I Am Always WriteAfter obtaining five quotations for a basement bathroom build, I ended up contracting with West End Bath and Kitchen. Factoring into my decision was the ability to have a truly turnkey solution from design to finish. As well, West End has been in business for approximately 40 years and has a stellar reputation. They also have an excellent showroom which really assists with the design process. From the onset, WEBK left others in the dust with its detailed quotation approach that left nothing to the imagination.The start time was decided upon months in advance, and the project started on time, finishing approximately 5 weeks later. Loretta, our experienced (and patient) designer and project overseer was very helpful throughout the process and never tired of our admittedly sometimes frequent questions. She produced an excellent detailed design and other documentation. Projects of this nature are bound to have hiccups that come along the way as computer design turns into reality. Whenever that occurred, Loretta was fast and helpful to help overcome any minor issues. Her communications on the phone and in email were excellent. One of my most important requirements was to have the bathroom completely protected by a Schluter waterproofing system. The highly experienced builder team of Jon and Chris did an absolute masterful job in building the bathroom using numerous Schluter products. They were friendly, their experience and knowledge was excellent, they were flexible and adaptable, they explained everything and happily answered questions at any time, they frequently check-pointed with me, they kept the worksite protected and clean and their attention to flawless detail was beyond anything I’ve ever seen before. Jon even caught a (pre-existing ) plumbing issue early in the project which saved a lot of aggravation had it not been fixed. Overall, they really take pride in their work, and are 100% committed to ensuring that the customer gets what they want in the end. They are true professionals. In the end, I got the bathroom that I was hoping for. It was perfectly built at a fair price just like every customer hopes for. MarcoReplace of old jacuzzi tub Excellent service and workmanship. Westend b&k team picked the perfect bathtub that replaces the original defunct jacuzzi and with very reasonable price. MJ and his team removed the original jacuzzi without damaging any of the original tiles and able to install the new tub to the original space perfectly, a really tough job. He tested and re-tested all plumbing works properly and make sure absolutely no leaks. Plus MJ makes sure the area is vacuumed and cleaned like new. All these jobs completed in 2 days as they promised. I now have a new bathtub in the same settings as when we brought the house, but newer and better. Andrew WedgwoodIn an era where there seems to be enough demand that some companies won’t even return a phone call, West End provided a refreshingly positive experience. We had a full kitchen and two-bathroom renovation completed. From the patient planning experience with Loretta, the in-home consultation with Al, through to the renovation itself led by Rick and his crew the entire process was positive. To provide some useful feedback to prospective buyers, here’s what most impressed us. A start date was set months in advance and the work started exactly on time. The crew was punctual, professional, knowledgeable, flexible, and approachable. Sometimes, it’s the small things like the crew’s positive interactions with our neighbour’s kids and their patient responses to our various questions. Our house was well protected with coverings everywhere and they kept the place tidy at the end of every workday. There were some minor problems with a couple of the cabinets ordered from a supplier but this was well handled and only represented minor finishing details. The job was completed within the allotted schedule and budget. All the more impressive given a few surprises in our century home and even after we added in the installation of a new laundry tub in the middle of the project. If that doesn’t speak to flexibility and customer service then I don’t know what does. The end result was beautiful and met all expectations and we’re hoping to use them again in the future. Steve S.Having put a lot of effort into researching Ottawa renovations companies, we decided on Westend Back and Kitchen(WB&K). Now completed, we have no regrets with this decision! Our renovation was a full redo of a kitchen, 2.5 bathroom, full house replacement of baseboard and casing as well as installing crown moulding, all interior doors and full house painting spanning approximately 6 months. They handled it like the pro's they are, on time and exactly as quoted. The design process was fantastic, with draw-ups of the project to help visualize things with as many of our wish list items accommodated as possible. Selections were done with the help of their recommendations based on their experiences which proved invaluable to make everything go together beautifully. Communication from WB&K was top tier all the way. Any questions we had were answered promptly and in full. Communication with the contractor doing the work was also top notch. He was here every day, explained what was being done, anything being waited on and what was happening next. At no point did we ever wonder where he was or when he was going to show up. The contractor worked with us during the build on preferences or options as he went so that we go exactly what/how we liked things. He also gave us some really great suggestions to improve things! At no point did we feel sidelined or that he was 'rushed' to finish. The very little "after-care" we have needed to resolve some smaller items, they had someone here same day to evaluate, and issues resolved in short order. We have been impressed with this as well. They also graciously dealt with any scope creep from us - which there was a little based on their ability to be fluid with some of the designs! Ultimately, we wanted a professional, experienced company to manage this project from start to finish so we could avoid the stress of that on top of our own busy schedules… and we got exactly what we wanted and then some! All of this has shown us the level of effort and care that went into our renovations from every level at WB&K from beginning to end. We would not hesitate to use WB&K for any future renovations or to recommend them to others (which we have already) for their renovations no matter how large (ours was pretty big!!).Posted on Google

Ligang ZhengIt was about a year ago that we called Westend Kitchen & Bath to explore options for our renovation project. And now a year late, we are so glad that we made that call and choose Westend to do the project as we have completely new kitchen, ensuite bathroom, main bathroom, and many more to enjoy. In this one-year long journey, we got to know many of workers, and they have become our friends. All of them are very professional, honest, and hard working. We first would like to thank Mr. Adam Newton, who took our initial call and became our designer. He was very meticulous and very experienced. Furthermore, he took every step to make sure that our project was well done. He even went to various stores to select light fixtures and appliances with us. Every question we had was always answered in a timely manner and to our full satisfaction. It is truly a pleasure to work with him. The “real” work started on July 4 of this year. For almost four months, we saw worker on every working day. Over the time, we have developed such good relationships and affections, it was very emotional and hard to say Bye to them. All of them are very nice and kind people. Everyday, they take big pride in what they are doing and do their best for the project. And all the time they have our desires and needs in their mind and the quality of their work is second to none. We especially are very impressed by Mr. Richard Cleroux’s vast knowledge and expertise; it seems that he is a living encyclopedia of house. His attention to details is truly amazing, nothing can escape his “hawk eye”. Plus, this indeed is a big plus, he is not interested to get the work done fast but done right and perfect. Mr. Philip Larocque, Alain Hussein, and Eric Billings did majorities of the work. Not only they worked hard but sometimes long hours too. There are times that they started 7:30 in the morning and finished 4:40 in the afternoon. All of them are very kind and with very pleasant personalities. Every day they would inform us about their progress and discuss every option with us. For example, how high the towel bar we want it installed. Their hard and excellent quality of work earned our honest and deep admiration and respect. Mr. Michael Menard’s skill as a cabinet installer must be ranked as the very top. It is amazing to see him by himself only to install the whole kitchen cabinet. No wonder he used to be a professional cabinet maker. We are very pleased with his excellent work. We want also to extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Tommy Brisson and Austin Richmire, who did part of our ceramic floor. The two electricians, Joey and Aaron, are wonderful too. Last, but not least, we want to thank Mr. Alain Carriere, the manager of Westend. For this project, he came to our house more than six times at various stage of the project from his busy schedule. He is very approachable and very kind. With his experience, he made lots of constructive suggestions. In every way, my project far exceeded my hopes. • Design: Joanna Dempsey, the designer, skillfully noted my preferences and worked with me to shape a design that was sophisticated, calming and timeless. She was very effective at identifying design elements and colour combinations that would fit well together. I would have been incapable of achieving the same results without her guidance. Joanna was also vigilant in respecting my budget, and identified cost-effective alternatives with similar characteristics to higher cost items that I liked. • Products: The products were of consistently high quality, notably the cabinetry, flooring, plumbing fixtures and countertops. • Installation: Eric Lachance and Alain Lachance did an exceptional job with the installation. They are true craftsmen and the workmanship is amazing. They were also very pleasant and service-oriented. The installation contractors from Westboro Flooring and Quiktop Counters were also excellent in terms of work quality and service. • Turnkey project: When I first began planning the renovations, it was very important to find a company that would do the project on a turnkey basis, since I don’t have project management experience with renovations. The comprehensive service provided by Westend on the overall project, and by Eric in the on-the-ground project delivery, were excellent. With the help of Sarah Stott designer, we chose the design and materials and Sarah's great eye brought it altogether as we had dreamed it would be. She is amazing. Once everything was chosen work began with Alan over seeing the project and checking in regularly to see if we had any questions. We had very few as we had excellent contractors in Eric and his brother Alan ( another Alan!) They were very careful and thoughtful of our home as they worked and their work was amazing. Paul MurrayOur Experience with Westend Bath and Kitchen When we were researching ideas and companies for our planned kitchen and bathroom renovation, we received a highly positive recommendation from friends who had both their kitchen and bathroom upgraded by Westend Bath and Kitchen on separate occasions. The moment we stepped into Westend’s showroom and met Brenda, who would become our designer, we felt a level of comfort and confidence that would remain with us throughout the project. We had given a lot of thought to what we wanted to achieve with the renovation, and Brenda worked creatively and patiently with us through iterations of the plan and the selection of the many materials and features to ensure that we would get the beauty and functionality that we desired. When Brenda, Al (store manager) and Rick (project supervisor) came to our house to do careful measurements and discuss intricate details of the work, we again know that we had made the correct choice in selecting Westend Bath and Kitchen. The work was scheduled to begin on February 21 and started early that morning. By the end of the first day, our kitchen had been completely gutted and Rick’s crew had helped us set up a temporary kitchen in our adjacent dining room. The guys were always polite, obliging and extremely competent, including the electrician and cabinet installer who came in to perform their specialties. In addition, they cleaned the work area before leaving at the end of each day. Any questions or concerns were answered fully and the crew was able to seamlessly incorporate our small additional requests, as we thought of several “wouldn’t it be nice to also do this while the guys are here” wishes. They did their utmost to make sure that we were inconvenienced as little as possible throughout the construction period; for example, ensuring that we always had a functioning bathroom. We were told that the project would take five to six weeks, but happily, it was completed in exactly four weeks, and to our complete satisfaction! The renovation exceeded our high expectations in every way. We would strongly recommend Westend Bath and Kitchen for anyone thinking of renovating their kitchen or bathroom as we are confident that the project would be completed in a highly professional, competent and cost-competitive way. Michael BallKitchen renovations can be a big undertaking—that's putting it lightly. Given the size and scope of ours, we wanted a company that was reputable, good to work with and could understand the vision of what we wanted to achieve, so we sent out a bunch of requests for quotes from what we thought were the top 5 companies in the city. The process was like going on a first date. Asking questions tentatively, sussing each other out. The moment we met the folks from Westend K&B, we felt an instant connection. They spoke to us plainly, asked tons of questions and more importantly listened to the suggestions and dreams we had for this project. We’re happy to report not only did they make all our kitchen dreams come true, but they also did it in a timely fashion. They were always there to answer our questions (which were many) regardless of time of day (we confess that some questions came to us at 2 am!) to help make a stressful time an easier one. Their contractors were professional and courteous, clean and quick. The kitchen looks great, and after six months we still can’t believe how fabulous and functional the room is now. It is truly a pleasure to cook and entertain in. We enjoyed the overall experience so much that we are looking forward to working with Westend K&B again for our next project(s). The design process with Al and Kendra gave us everything that we needed and the installation by MJ was perfect since he had to blend it in with the existing bathroom walls. The increased 3 foot shower depth means no more banged elbows and the Invisia seat and combination grab bar/shelves are so practical. We did our research and initially talked to 3 other kitchen renovation companies, 2 of them even designed kitchen layouts with cost estimates for us, but we either did not like the design or did not get the service we expected, until we met Peter at Westend Bath & Kitchens. Peter came over to our house, took measurements, listened carefully to what we are looking for, and came back with a layout that met our requirements. Peter was actually excited to design our kitchen, since we have an open style cathedral ceiling, such that he designed uneven height cabinets that look like tops of buildings!
